The Nobel Prize Winners Announced!
The Nobel Prize is one of
the most prestigious honors in the whole
world and the 2007 recipients of the 6 awards
were recently announced. Two of the winners
are icons that we are very familiar with:
Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore and Nobel
Prize in Literature winner Doris Lessing! The
former Vice-President and Presidential
candidate Gore was honored for his tireless
efforts to promote environmental change in
the world. He is still one of the most
popular men in the country and many still
hope that a 2008 Presidential bid is in his
future. Lessing is a British author of over
30 works and was described by the Swedish
Academy as "that epicist of the female
experience, who with scepticism, fire and
visionary power has subjected a divided
civilisation to scrutiny". She is only the
eleventh woman to win the prize in its
106-year history, and also the oldest person
ever to win the literature award.
We
