 Today marks the sixth
anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks
in NYC in 2001. Please take a look below at
our main article to learn what we are doing
to mark this tragic day in American History!
We all remember September 11th as the day
that the world stopped for a minute...
Planes hijacked, planes grounded, explosions,
tears and pictures that will burn in our
minds forever... It is important for me to
note on this day that another great and
tragic event took place that has touched this
company and the people who work here. That
event occurred on September 11, 1965. On
this day over 40 years ago a group of young
men from the United States of America started
landing near the Ia Drang Valley in Vietnam
in preparation for what would become the
battle of a lifetime and the story that David
Halberstam and David Hackworth said defined
combat inventory. On September 11, 1965 the
1st Cavalry left the horses behind and took
to the air with the helicopter as their
trusty carrier. The 1st Cavalry landed in
Vietnam on this day! We send our thoughts
and prayers out to Rick Rescorla (and
family), a member of the 1st Cavalry and a
veteran of the battle at Ia Drang Valley that
was immortalized in 'We Were Soldiers Once...
and Young.' Rick survived Vietnam and was
tragically taken from us on September 11,
2001. He was serving as the Vice-President
of security for Morgan-Stanley/Dean-Witter,
the largest tenant in the World Trade Center.
