Dear Fellow FlatSigned VIP Members And
Friends,
FlatSigned Rare Books
has been collecting, selling, and trading
books for over 10 years now. Over those
years, everyone here has learned an
incredible amount about all the books that
have come and gone from our collection. We
have also realized just how difficult it may
be for collectors new and old (ourselves
included) to determine the exact printing
state, value, and other pertinent information
of the very books in our respective
collections. To that end, we have always
been very open and honest in sharing the
wealth of knowledge and information we have
attained with anyone and everyone who wants
to know more about books. We try to give our
very best tips to those who want to get
deeper into the book collecting hobby. As our
company grows, we continue to try to be a
wonderful source of information about books
and authors and always use all the resources
at our disposal to provide all our customers
with accurate and detailed description of
everything we showcase. We are not afraid to
answer any and all questions you may have
concerning books and book collecting and hope
that you look to us now and in the future!
If there is one thing we have learned it is
that we may not know everything, but we can
sure get the answer... We have also learned
that many heads are better than one and this
community is just that, a community. We all
learn and collect together.

To Kill A Mockingbird Published In 1960.
On July 11th, 1960,
one of the greatest novels in literary
history was published, To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee. This Southern
Gothic novel of personal development, which
Lee never
expected any sort of success with, was an
immediate bestseller and won her great
critical acclaim, including the Pulitzer
Prize for Fiction in 1961. It remains a
bestseller today, with over 15 million copies
in print, and has earned a secure place in
the canon of American literature. In 1999, it
was voted "Best Novel of the Century" in a
poll conducted by the Library Journal. The
novel was made into the
well-received and Academy Award-winning film,
starring Gregory Peck, with the same title in
1962. There have been many references and
allusions to the novel all over popular
culture since its publication even to this
day, an example of the amazing influence of
the book and the power of its theme of
personal growth to transcend generations.
After the publication of Mockingbird,
Lee withdrew from public life granting almost
no requests for interviews or public.
appearances. With the exception of a few
short essays, she has also published no
further writings. Recently, a letter of hers
was published in Oprah Winfrey's magazine O
in which Lee wrote about her steadfast
dedication to books even in the age of
advancing technology. It was a very rare
glimpse into the life of one of literature's
most famous authors.
