Dear Fellow FlatSigned VIP Members And Friends,

Straight to the HITS tonight!! If John F. Kennedy had not been assassinated by a lone gunman (if you believe in that sort of thing) he would turn 90 years old today. Happy Birthday JFK!! Tonight, we honor you with two very special direct offers including a copy of The Strategy of Peace once held and signed by President Kennedy. Through the years, the JFK assassination (and the aftermath) has been a part of social and political history that FlatSigned Rare Books has taken an active role in defining. When we signed the deal with President Gerald R. Ford, who was the last living member of the Warren Commission, we knew that President Ford wanted to say a few things about who he was and about his involvement with the Warren Commission. We had no idea that the book written by President Ford for us would become a part of JFK's history and legacy as well. We thank both of these great American Presidents for their service to our Country!

Can anyone tell me how many First Printing copies of JFK's first book, 'Why England Slept' were printed? Have you ever seen one?

Thank you all and good luck on the auctions ENDING TONIGHT at www.FlatSignedLive.com

John Fitzgerald Kennedy
Born May 29th, 1917

John F KennedyOn this day exactly 90 years ago, one of the most beloved Presidents in US History, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, was born. He was the first American President to be born in the 20th century and also was the youngest man ever elected to office. Kennedy's support for liberal economic and social policies, such as civil rights and increased funding for education and public housing, in addition to his strong anti-communist stance, appealed to a broad cross-section of Americans during the presidential campaign and as President, he combined a fervent stance against communism with a liberal domestic agenda. He was a strong proponent of civil rights, a Cold War hawk, and an eager supporter of the space program. His youth, intelligence and worldliness - along with his beautiful, stylish and much-admired wife and their two young children, Caroline and John Jr. - charmed Americans and Europeans alike.

Sadly, on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas, the United States was forever changed when President Kennedy was tragically assassinated, presumably by Lee Harvey Oswald. The assassination remains controversial to this day and has proved to be a defining moment in U.S. history due to its traumatic impact on the psyche of the nation and its ensuing political fallout; a historical fallout that influenced, and continues to influence, the temperament of American society. President Kennedy was and is still regarded as an icon of American hopes and aspirations to every new generation of Americans. FlatSigned is proud to offer a selection of his great books from our collection to yours.

Edmund Hillary And Tenzing Norgay
Climb Mount Everest!

Edmund Hillary Mt EverestAt 11:30am on this day in 1953, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay made history by becoming the first explorers to reach the summit of Mount Everest, the world's tallest peak. News of this landmark human achievement broke around the world on June 2, and the entire team were surprised by the international acclaim they received. Hillary and John Hunt, who headed the British funded expedition were both knighted by Queen Elizabeth, and Norgay was honored with the British Empire Medal. Hillary went on to be one of greatest explorers of the 20th century, which included becoming the first man to stand at the north and south pole. Though many expeditions have made their way to the top of Everest since, it is only Hillary and Norgay who can claim to be the first accomplish the amazing feat. FlatSigned is proud to offer a wonderful selection of books SIGNED by Edmund Hillary, including a great copy of Conquest of Everest, which recounts the amazing story of Everest.
