Clarence Darrow was one of America's most famous lawyers in the 20th century, best known for defending teenaged thrill killers Leopold and Loeb in their trial for murdering 14-year-old Bobby Franks (1924) and defending John T. Scopes in the so-called "Monkey" Trial (1925). This book is incredible in that Darrow personally hand SIGNED and inscribed this book about famed philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche to a friend the SAME year he used a Nietzsche defense in the Leopold and Loeb trial! During the trial, Darrow gave perhaps the finest speech of his career which helped the two receive life in prison rather than the death penalty. The document measures 13x8" and is printed on full vellum. Also signed by Geo. Graham as the commissioner of the General Land Office. It has some brown stains and crease folds; seal is worn.
