Literature As Film And Its Impact On The Academy Awards.

Academy Award OscarThe 1st Academy Awards were presented on May 16, 1929 at a private dinner held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Popularly known as the Oscars, this annual ceremony has become the most prominent and most watched film awards ceremony in the world. It recognizes excellence in many aspects of motion picture making, such as acting, directing and screenwriting. The award for Best Picture is considered the most prestigious award and is generally the last award given out at each ceremony. Literature has played a large role in the Academy Awards since its inception as many of the films nominated and/or have won the coveted Best Picture award were adapted from great literary works. Beginning with the 1930 Best Picture All Quiet on the Western Front, adapted from the book by Erich Maria Remarque to the 2003 Best Picture for the adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy masterpiece The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, and every major book turned into classic film in between, literature has held and should continue to hold a firm place in the minds of readers and movie goers alike. FlatSigned is proud to offer from our collection, incredible and rare copies of many of these liteary classics turned film, to yours!
