FLATSIGNED TIP: When collecting a living author, start your collection with the newest book and work your way back through their works. The newest book will generally rise in value quicker than the older ones that have already been exposed to the market. The older ones do go up in value too, but not as dynamically as a brand new book (in most cases).

One of the most United States' most underrated Presidents, Harry S. Truman, was born on this day in 1884. As Vice President to the great Franklin D. Roosevelt, Truman succeeded to the office upon the death of FDR and faced the daunting task of replacing one of the most beloved and highly regarded Presidents in US history. As such, he was compared unfavorably to his highly regarded predecessor and received very low approval ratings at one point in his term but now many US scholars rank him in the top ten Presidents because of his handling of domestic and very eventful foreign affairs. Truman's legendary upset victory in the 1948 Presidential elections, which provided the iconic "Dewey defeats Truman" image, is routinely invoked by underdog presidential candidates.
