Pearl S. Buck, Pulitzer Prize And Nobel Prize Winning Literary Icon
Pearl
S. Buck is a
true literary icon, the author of over 100
incredible and influential works of
literature. May 2nd marks an amazing
anniversary for her. On that day in 1932,
Buck was awarded the prestigious Pulitzer
Prize for her most famous and greatest novel,
The
Good Earth! The powerful,
political work
chronicled the fictional life of Wang Lung
against the backdrop of 20th century turmoil
and revolution in China, a topic very
familiar to her as she spent the majority of
her early life in China amidst nearly the
same backdrop. The novel brought such
considerable
attention and acclaim to her and her
subsequent books such as the biographies of
her parents, The Exile, and
Fighting Angel,
that only 6 years later, Buck became the
first American woman to win the Nobel Prize
for Literature! Buck lived an profoundly
multicultural life due to her upbringing in
China and her extremely passionate activism
for human rights. A great deal of Buck's
personal life was in her novels, short
stories, fiction, and children's stories and
through them, she sought to prove to her
readers that universality of mankind can
exist if man accepts it. She dealt with many
topics including women's rights, emotions (in
general), Asian cultures, immigration,
adoption, and conflicts that many people go
through in life. Buck's numerous works hold a
secure place in literary history and
FlatSigned is proud to offer a fantastic
selection of Pearl
S. Buck SIGNED
collectibles from our
collection to yours!
